Procedure for responding to an "AIR ALARM" signal in Starokostyantynivska Secondary School No. 1

Procedure for responding to an "AIR ALARM" signal

The "Air Alert" signal means an immediate threat of a missile or air strike. Ignore him strictly prohibited.

1. Student actions depending on location

  • If you get a signal in the classroom during a lesson:

  1. Stay calm, don't panic. Listen carefully to the teacher - he or she will coordinate all further actions.

  2. At the teacher's command, quickly, but without running or fussing, take a pre-prepared "safety bag" or backpack with personal belongings.

  3. In an organized manner, one by one, leave the classroom and form a column to move to shelter.

  • If the signal is caught during a break (in the corridor, cafeteria, toilet):

  1. Immediately and calmly move to your classroom to join your classmates for an organized evacuation.

  2. If this is not possible (the class is far away, panic has begun), join the nearest class that is evacuating and clearly follow the instructions of the teacher of this group.

  • If the signal is caught in the schoolyard:

  1. Do not attempt to return to the school premises.

  2. Immediately, on your own or under the guidance of a teacher nearby, head to the school shelter along the designated route.59

  • If you get a signal on your way to or from school:

  1. Don't run home or to school. This can be dangerous because you don't know how much time you have.

  2. Immediately find the nearest possible shelter: this could be the basement of the nearest building or a specialized bomb shelter if you know its location.

  3. Once you are in a safe place, be sure to inform your parents and class teacher of your exact location.

2. Rules for organized movement to shelter

The effectiveness of evacuation depends on the coordination of actions. The order of movement to the shelter is practiced during training, and every student must know it.

  • The movement is carried out in two columns, quickly but at a measured pace. It is forbidden to run, push, overtake each other, or talk.. Silence is necessary to hear the teacher's commands.

  • You must follow the approved and marked evacuation route.

  • Students with special educational needs (SEN) are transported accompanied by a teaching assistant or other responsible person who provides them with the necessary assistance.

  • The teacher closes the column, checking that all students have left the room.

3. Rules of conduct in the shelter

A shelter is a place of temporary safety where strict rules must be followed.

  • Upon arrival at the shelter, take your class' designated seat. The teacher will conduct a roll call to make sure everyone is in their seats.

  • Maintain silence and calm. Follow all instructions from teachers or those responsible for shelter.62

  • It is strictly forbidden to:

  • Walking around the room without urgent need.

  • Make noise, talk loudly, shout, run.

  • Unauthorized turning on or off lights and other equipment.

  • Use open flames (candles, lighters).

  • Try to get out of the shelter on your own.

  • You can leave the shelter only after the official signal "Airborne alarm cancelled" and at the command of the responsible person. Exit is carried out in the same organized manner as entry.

  • Importantly: Parents are prohibited from taking their child out of the shelter during an alarm. This rule is in place to ensure the safety of all participants in the educational process.
