Teacher's Day 2019
In Ukraine, Teacher's Day, which is officially called the Day of Education Workers, is celebrated annually on the first Sunday of October, according to the Decree of the President of Ukraine dated September 11, 1994.
Teacher's Day was first celebrated in the USSR in 1965.
Later, in 1994, on the recommendation of UNESCO, this professional holiday of education workers received international status and began to be celebrated on October 5.
This day is designed to draw attention to the position of teachers in society, their role in education and development. After all, teachers – it's not only people who teach science, teachers – they are mentors of the younger generation, preparing them for adulthood. More than 100 countries in the world celebrate Teacher's Day.
In addition, World Teachers' Day is included in the system of world and international days of the United Nations.
